“I had to mention that I am from Cape Coast in order to avoid being beaten up any further.” I might have had more beatings if I had stated that I am an Ewe.”

Such were the words of embattled journalist Caleb Kudah, who was arrested by the National Security on May 11 2021 at the Citi FM precincts in Adabraka, Accra, for filming a security zone.

Caleb Kudah said that after he and his colleague Zoe Abu-Baidoo were sent to the National Security office in Accra, he was beaten by one of the men.

In general, he had no choice but to abandon his tribe because confirming it would have put him in a dangerous condition where his beatings would have doubled or he would have been seriously abused.

Caleb Kudah told the host of Citi TV’s Point Of View special, Bernard Avle, about his ordeal and how his tribal inclination had to be condemned in order to save him from further beatings.
