Military men burn excavators and water pumping machine belonging to NPP’s Kate Gyamfua used for galamsey

The anti-galamsey military task force (Operation Halt) returned to the mining site of the ruling New Patriotic Party’s National Women’s Organizer Kate Gyamfua to torch additional mining equipment.

According to an eyewitness, the task force returned to the site on Monday, May 17, 2021 to burn a defective excavator and a massive water pumping machine that had escaped their attention the day before when they set fire to eight excavators, a bulldozer, and hundreds of water pumping machines.

Other excavators that were not sufficiently burned during the task force’s first assault on the mining site were also set ablaze.

“Because of what they did the last three days, we were at home when we got calls that they have come again, they came and had our two machines re-burnt,” Nana Asante Boadi Yeboah, a mine worker, told Starr News. On our site, they have burned about 9 to 10 machines so far.”

Around 150 water pumping machines have been burned at the site, according to Nana Asante Boadi.

“We had about 150 pumping machines, all of which were burned…the largest pumping machine that we used to rotate the water was also burned.”
