Captain Smart, who was recently suspended from the Angel Broadcasting Network, has proclaimed himself a member of the New Patriotic Party.
Journalists are expected to be impartial in Ghana’s political structure for a variety of reasons, including keeping the political parties they support out of the spotlight.
In reality, it was unexpected for a top Ghanaian journalist like Captain Smart to make his preferred political party known to the general public.

Captain Smart was deliberating on his criticism of the government that led to his suspension in an interview with Kweku Sintim Misa on Pan African TV’s KSM show.
He claims that just because he is a member of the NPP and sympathizes with them does not mean he can remain silent if he notices anything wrong.
“I sympathize with the NPP, and I am a member of the party, but because I love the party, I will never remain silent if I see anything wrong.”
Captain Smart’s job as the host of “Anopa Bofour,” a morning show on Angel TV and Angel FM, has been suspended.
According to Dr. Kwaku Oteng, the CEO of Angel Group of Companies, who called for Captain Smart’s suspension, government officials put a lot of pressure on him.
This was due to Captain Smart’s excessive criticism of the president and his government officials for bad economic management.
